Libraries could have hours reduced

Some of Devon's libraries could have their opening hours cut if county councillors approve the money saving plans later.

The proposed efficiencies could save Devon County Council 850-thousand pounds a year.

Under the plans, Ivybridge's library would have its opening hours reduced from 45 a week to 38.

Tavistock library would be open for 43 hours instead of 50.5 per week.

The town's mayor Philip Sanders says it's not yet clear how the hours would be spread through the week, but he hopes it won't mean losing evening or Saturday openings.
