Labour take five seats from Tories in local elections

It was a good night for Labour in Plymouth's city council elections.

They gained five seats, which means the Tories' majority has now been slashed to just seven seats.

Plymouth also has its first sikh councillor with the election of Chaz Singh in Drake ward, while Labour councillors have also taken Stoke, Southway and St Peter and the Waterfront.

Turnout ranged between thirty and forty five per cent depending on the ward.
