Incinerator could 'exacerbate' life expectancy differences in city, say campaigners

Campaigners against plans for an incinerator at Devonport say they still believe there are health risks associated with the plant.

This week the environment agency gave a draft permit to MVV for the plant at North Yard, but a final decision will be taken in February.

They said there appeared to be no significant pollution or risk to human health.

The city council will decide whether to grant planning permission next week.

Robin Keats from campaign group 'Incineration is Wrong' says there are already health issues in the Devonport area, where the life expectancy is 14 years less than for someone living in Plympton or Plymstock.
