Illegal net to be removed from wreck

It's hoped a fishing net illegally dumped on a wreck at Whitsand Bay will be removed by the end of the week.

HMS Scylla has been out of bounds to divers since November when the net became tangled on it, making conditions dangerous.

Now, local divers and a charter boat have volunteered to help and will spend the next few days cutting the net away by hand for free.

It could've cost the National Marine Aquarium more than £20,000 to remove the net without this help.

Dr David Gibson's the managing director - he says this way will still cost them around £2500 to hire the equipment needed but this is still considerably less than previously thought.
