Hoteliers call on city council to keep register office on Hoe

There could be job losses in the hospitality industry if the register office moves away from Lockyer Street, according to the Plymouth Hospitality Association.

The city council say moving the service to Pounds House would save them tens of thousands of pounds.

But hoteliers and landlords within the waterfront and barbican area say business linked to the register office is worth around two million pounds.

The city council have said they'll ensure the hospitality sector can advertise their services at Pounds house if the move goes ahead.

They add that moving the service will save them tens of thousands of pounds in the long term.
