HMS Argyll returns home

More than 600 relatives and friends are expected to line the docks at Devonport this morning as local frigate HMS Argyll returns home.

She has been on a six month deployment to the Middle East and along with anti piracy patrols , she also escorted a US aircraft carrier along the strait of Hormuz.

At the time there were concerns Iran might close it, blockading oil supplies.

Amongst the crew is Leading logistician John Wicking, who has spent the most days at sea of any Navy sailor - his tally now stands at over 5100 - he is also returning to see his grandchild for the first time.

The vessel also made a trip to Lebanon to strengthen relationships with the country - Commanding Officer Paul Stroud has said many there are fearful that violence in Syria could spill over their borders, but that they received a warm welcome from locals.
