Four million pounds of spending and plans to change Plymouth's constituencies to be discussed at city council

Four and a half million pounds worth of  spending and the restructure of Plymouth city council's management will be discussed today.

The number of director posts has been reduced and the assistant chief executive role scrapped - Adam Broome, Carol Burgoyne and Antony Payne will now take on new roles in corporate services, people and places respectively.

It means that each will have a much bigger remit, but the local authority says all are very experienced and able to cope.

Amongst the capital spending to be discussed, one of the biggest projects is a one point two million pound data centre at Windsor house.

One point three million pounds would also be spent on repairing potholes.

It seems likely that both sides of Plymouth city council will support a motion protesting against plans to change the city's constituency boundaries.

Under the plans to reduce the number of MPs, Moorview would be moved out of the Plymouth constituencies into a new Tavistock and Plympton seat.

Labour leader Tudor Evans has brought a motion to protest against it to the city council today which has been seconded by city council leader Vivien Pengelly.

If approved, the council will send its alternative ideas to the Boundary commission today - today is the last day to have your say.
