Man arrested in Plymouth after threatening to harm himself

A man has been arrested for making threats to kill following a serious incident in Plymouth city centre this morning.

Notte Street was cordoned off for several hours after a man with a weapon made threats to police over the phone and said he was going to harm himself.

Firearms officers went to the scene, although they say the man didn't have a gun - at around quarter to eleven this morning he was arrested and taken to Charles Cross police station, where he is being detained.

No one was hurt during the incident.
