Field gun heritage celebrated with opening of museum

A brand new museum opens today at Crownhill fort to celebrate the heritage of the Devonport field gun association.

The group will march into their new home at lunchtime after having to vacate their previous premises at South Yard at the request of the MOD.

The Command field gun competition ended in 1999 and the 3 cups and world record set in that competition will be on display. Plymouth's association with the sport dates back to 1907.
