Family of murdered Cornish woman pay tribute to her

The family of a murdered Cornish woman have issued a statement in memory of her.

Fifty five year old Amanda Sorrell was brutally murdered at her cottage in Stoke Climsland by her lover in September last year.

Sixty six year old John O'Rourke of Milton Abbot near Tavistock has been jailed for life - with a minimum sentence of fourteen years.

Police said O'Rourke showed no remorse after the attack - he tried to kill himself as well and suffered serious injuries.

The family say they'll always be shocked and perplexed at what happened to such a lovely person.

They said Amanda was a devoted mother, sister and friend to all. She will be treasured in their hearts forever.

They say she was independent, honest and hardworking.

She enjoyed the peaceful life in her garden and with her dog Max. Amanda died just three weeks before the birth of her first granchild - something they add that she was looking forward to more than anything.
