Changes to the way councillors are disciplined in Plymouth are to be discussed at a meeting next week.

Councillors will decide whether to scrap the current standards committee in line with new government policy.

In its place would be a more informal advisory group made up of one independent person and councillors from both political parties.

It's also being proposed that council meetings should be webcast in future to make local democracy transparent. The current ban on using mobiles and social media during meetings would also be lifted.
