Devon drugs gang jailed

Seven men have been jailed for their role in supplying cocaine to Plymouth and other parts of South Devon.

Two were from the Plymouth area - Shaun Battle from Bere Alston and Stephen Proctor from Plymouth were jailed for twelve years and nine years respectively.

Overall the gang were imprisoned for more than ninety years between them.

They were only caught in August 2009 when Christopher Leader was stopped on the M5 for being uninsured - a quarter of a million pounds worth of cocaine was found in his car.

Exeter crown court heard that many of them lived a lavish James Bond lifestyle with the proceeds, owning fast cars and boats.

Devon and Cornwall police say it was a massive operation and they're very proud of the officers who helped to bring these men to justice.
