Derriford hospital to shed posts in bid to save thirty one million pounds

Bosses at Derriford hospital have revealed that there will be redundancies as the trust has to make savings of thirty one million pounds over the next year.

The exact number hasn't yet been revealed, but 53 posts have already been removed.

Two operating theatres and 130 beds will also go.

The Plymouth hospitals NHS Trust says it won't need as many beds because more people will be treated as day cases in future.

Unions are being briefed today.
