Derriford Hospital meeting needs of elderly patients

Inspectors for the care quality commission have found that older people's needs are being met at Derriford hospital.

The CQC visited the hospital in March as part of a national inspection programme.

After visiting two wards, inspectors found that elderly patients were being treated with dignity and respect and that they had access to adequate nutrition and hydration.

Derriford's single sex accommodation was also thought to be meeting essential standards.

Hospital staff say they've worked hard to reduce the number of mixed sex wards.
