Derelict former Plymouth school to be pulled down

Police say they're pleased a derelict former school in Plymouth is to be pulled down.

Officers have been called to the old Southway primary on Bampfylde way more than ninety times since March 2010 because of incidents of anti social behaviour.

The building was left empty in 2009 when the new Oakwood primary opened in Pendeen crescent.

But now the building will be handed over to contractors from Monday so that it can be prepared for demolition.

Youths have been caught throwing stones and planks of wood at passers by from the roof - and it's believed the building was deliberately set alight in June.
