A national celebration of the armed forces is underway on Plymouth Hoe.

The event is a tribute to the expertise of the army, navy and air force and a chance for them  to show off their skills in a range of impressive displays.

It's also a day to remember those who've lost their lives in action - many war veterans are attending to help raise awareness of the sacrifices made by service personnel and their families.

A spokesman for the Royal British Legion said he hoped the event would also emphasise the importance of keeping our armed forces up to strength.
