Crime down in Devon and Cornwall as job cut details revealed

Unions say reducing the number of civilian investigators in Devon will take bobbies off the beat.

It's been revealed that 70 of these jobs are at risk as part of a general review of posts - 700 officer posts and 500 civilian posts must go over the next four years.

Meanwhile new figures out today show overall crime in Devon and Cornwall is down six per cent compared with last year.

Vehicle crime and burglary is down, but sex offences and drug crime are up.
