Crackdown on 'chuggers' to start next month

Strict controls should be in place by mid September that would mean less face-to-face fundraisers in Plymouth's city centre.

City centre bosses say it's one of the issues they get the most complaints about - with up to 24 charity sellers known to have been in the same area at the same time.

A site management agreement has now been ratified by the fundraising regulator, which should mean there are never any more than six 'chuggers' in the city centre at one time.

There will be a rota system in place so that only one charity can fundraise in Plymouth at once.
