City pub's license reviewed by council

The license of a Plymouth pub is to be reviewed following two incidents which have resulted in criminal charges being brought.

Police asked the licensing department at Plymouth city council to review the license of the Wild Coyote on August 2nd.

They say they have concerns that the management of the premises has fallen below an acceptable standard.

They add that two incidents have taken place there in recent months which have resulted in criminal charges.

In the most recent, on July 31st, two people were charged with racially aggravated common assault near the Istanbul takeaway and two with obstructing a police officer - they all deny the charges.

Six letters of support have been received by the city council arguing that the landlord does manage the premises well and improved the venue's reputation since he began working there.

The licensing committee could choose to modify, suspend or even revoke their license.
