City councillors give views on hospital foundation trust plans

City councillors are being consulted on Derriford hospital's plans to become a foundation trust.

It's part of a three-month public consultation on the proposals.

The government wants all hospital trusts to achieve the status by 2014.

Derriford bosses say becoming a foundation trust would give them greater control of their finances and how the services are run, as well as giving patients and staff more power.

A scrutiny panel will be asked for their views on the proposals this morning.

The consultation finishes at the end of March - and you can have your say online by clicking here
