City council to exclude union from overtime negotiations

A Plymouth union has been told that the city council will no longer negotiate with them after they refused to sign a deal on contractual overtime pay.

Unison was the only union out of three which would not sign the deal agreeing to lose their contractual overtime - the standard working week would also be extended to include Saturdays.

The local authority say in a ballot most of Unison's members agreed to sign and that the leadership have acted unfairly.

By excluding Unison from negotiations, the local authority say they can implement the changes from September 1st without shedding an additional 400 posts.
