City council set to vote on buying back Home Park

The takeover of Plymouth Argyle could move a step closer to completion today, if the city council vote in favour of buying back Home Park.

Devon businessman James Brent's bid for Argyle depends on the council buying the ground and leasing it back to the football club.

It's estimated Plymouth Argyle brings more than £10 million into the city's economy each year.

A report going before the cabinet today recommends the local authority does so for £1.6 million. City councillors will then vote on the plans at the full council meeting this afternoon.

Some labour councillors had put forward a motion earlier this year asking the authority to consider buying the ground, which was dismissed.

The fans' trust are urging all supporters to attend the full council meeting for the 'historic' vote, which starts at 4:30pm at the Council House.
