Chief constable of Devon and Cornwall Police leaving

The Chief Constable of Devon and Cornwall police is leaving - to take up a top job at the HMIC.

Stephen Otter's been appointed as one of Her Majesty's Inspectors of constabulary.

The organisation assesses police forces and policing activity.

It's not yet known when Stephen Otter will stand down from his current role, which he's been in for the past 5 years.

But news of his departure comes at a time of huge cuts at the force.

Devon and Cornwall police have to make cuts of 47 million pounds.
