Changes to Plymouth's postal deliveries begin

It's claimed new working arrangements for postal workers in Plymouth have some benefits.

From today though, it could mean that some locals receive their mail up to an hour later than normal.

The agreement signed by Royal Mail workers in 2010 changes their working hours so that they finish at 3pm instead of 2pm, but also gives them a lump sum payment and more time off at weekends.

The change has already been rolled out through most of Plymouth ,but today it's the turn of those with PL2 or PL3 postcodes.

The organisation is going through a period of change as the decline in sending letters continues.

However the CWU says the increase in sending packets and parcels is making up for this and that it's more labour intensive to deliver these than a letter.
