Campaign group welcomes new waste plant at Lee Moor

A South Devon protest group has welcomed the go-ahead for an alternative to getting rid of waste.

AAD have been given plannning permission by Devon County for an anaerobic digestor separate from the proposed incinerators at Devonport and Lee Mill.

The organic plant uses micro organisms to break down waste, but on't be able to deal with as much as an incinerator.

Charlotte Mills from Ecoivy has said they welcome the news and hope that in future this new technology will be considered more carefully.

The city council will decide on December 22nd whether to give planning permission for an incinerator at Devonport.

In the past the South west devon waste partnership has said alternative technologies like anaerobic digestion won't be able to cope with the volume of waste that this area generates.
