Campaign group acknowledges it's unlikely to prevent airport closure

A campaign group who have worked to try and save Plymouth Airport have acknowledged it is almost certain to close in December.

Viable have dropped calls for a judicial review or public consultation on the issue, as they have been advised they may not succeed in preventing the closure.

But they say they do still hope to be able to reopen the airport with new investment at some point in the future.

In the meantime their campaign to prevent any change of use for the airport land will continue.

The airport is due to close on December 23rd.

Meanwhile the sale of another piece of the airport's surplus land has been completed today.

Sutton Harbour holdings say they will receive two point three million pounds overall.

It follows the sale of four other pieces of airport land over the last couple of years.

The group says it will now work with the city council to get the best value for the site through alternative uses once it closes.
