Brixham's coastguard station is still set to close under amended proposals announced by the government today.

The department for transport has now suggested having two main operations centres on the Solent and at Dover, with eight sub centres operating 24/7.

Previously there were just five sub centres proposed which would operate in daylight hours.

Falmouth is one of those which would now stay open 24/7 but Brixham is still earmarked to close between 2012 and 2014.

A new twelve week consultation on these proposals has now been launched.
