Blitz services mark 70th anniversary

Two separate services will be held today to remember the Plymouth civilians who died during the Blitz.

There were two major bombing campaigns affecting Plymouth in March and April 1941 -the second wave, known as the Plymouth Blitz, began on April 21st. More than 1200 civilians died.

The Blitz memorial at Efford cemetery will be rededicated today following refurbishment. 397 victims are buried there in a mass grave.

Meanwhile a separate service will be held at Ford Park cemetery this afternoon.
