Argyle owners £83m takeover of Pavilions given go ahead

An £83million scheme to expand the Pavilions and build a new ice rink near Home Park has been given the go ahead today.

Argyle owner James Brent's company will expand the pavilions by 500 seats and create a 1500 seat international standard ice rink.

Work on Argyle's new grandstand will also begin to take the seating capacity at Home Park to 20,000.

The city council has been looking for someone to takeover the leasehold of the pavilions for some time as it argues the current upkeep costs are unsustainable.

James Brent says they hope it will also help some of the city's unemployed, as it will create around 1000 jobs.
