Argyle donation investigated

An investigation has been launched by the charity commission into a donation given to Plymouth Argyle before they went into administration.

Plymouth Argyle Supporters Training and Development Trust loaned the club more than £300,000, but some have argued the money shouldn't have been used for this purpose.

The trust was originally set up to help young players through the ranks and the group ran a hostel in Sutherland road.

This was sold in 2007 when the club decided to rehouse players - the trust had since offered to provide grants to local groups.

Acting chairman of Argyle Peter Ridsdale says he can't comment on the legal issues, but he believes the money was given for the right reasons.

A charity auction is to be held to raise money for Plymouth Argyle on March 24th - Peter Reid has donated his 1986 FA cup medal.

Fans are being urged to contribute any unique memorabilia they may have.

People are also being offered the chance to buy five tickets for the final home games of the season for the price of three.
