Argyle almost saved

Plymouth Argyle fans wake up today knowing their club is almost saved.

Devon businessman James Brent was last night awaiting the final confirmation that his deal to buy the club was complete and the football league share returned.

Yesterday a deal was signed with the administrators after intense negotiation.

Mr Brent says he hopes to get staff paid on Monday.

He says another priority is to work with caretaker manager Carl Fletcher, Romain Larrieu and chairman of footballing operations Peter Ridsdale to stabilise the team and rule out relegation - and to put financial controls in place to ensure the club never gets into this situation again.
