Anti social behaviour related to Bonfire night drops in Plymouth

A crackdown on illegal bonfires has helped to reduce anti social behaviour in Plymouth at this time of year, according to police.

In 2007, the fire service were called to 40 unauthorised bonfires in Plymouth, down from 113 in 2007.

It is illegal to have a bonfire on council or housing association land.

Likewise the number of incidents police are being called to has also dropped - they have been visiting local shops to ensure they aren't selling fireworks to children.

Police are encouraging locals to attend organised displays. On the Hoe, entertainment starts from 6pm. The bonfire will be lit at 7.30 and the fireworks start at 8pm.
