Another police enquiry desk closes

Residents in Ivybridge will no longer have a police enquiry desk after today.

Devon and Cornwall police are closing six desks in the Plymouth area - as part of money-saving plans.

Tavistock, Torpoint and Plymstock have already shut, with Plympton closing next week.

Bosses say the number of people using police enquiry offices has fallen, with more people contacting their police station by telephone and the internet.

Chairman of the police federation, Nigel Rabbits, says these cuts are being imposed on the force and enquiry office closures couldn't be prevented.
