Alcohol related crime and health problems cost city £80 million a year

 

Around 6800 people are in Plymouth are thought to be dependent on alcohol according to a report being considered by councillors today.

The council wants to finalise its Alcohol action plan later this year after it was revealed that alcohol related crime and health problems cost the city around £80,000,000 a year.

The focus is on education and prevention rather than cure.

Likewise the government's health select committee will publish its report on whether there should be a minimum price of 40p per unit of alcohol today.
