Air rescues could be delayed if Plymouth airport closes

A Devon charity says the closure of Plymouth's airport would inevitably have an impact on their ability to operate as normal.

The county's air ambulance says it doesn't want to get involved in the politics, but wants to make it clear that there are numerous organisations which would be affected.

The airport is due to close in December, but a group known as Viable has now been formed to try and save it.

The Devon Air Ambulance says it can only land at Derriford hospital during the day and therefore problems could arise if they had to bring in a patient at night.

The charity says it could also delay rescues as only one aircraft at a time can land at the hospital.
