A thousand Plymothians join national protests against cuts

Around a thousand Plymouth campaigners are heading to London this morning to take part in a national protest against government cuts to public services.

500 posts are at risk at the city council and over one thousand jobs could go at Devon and Cornwall's police force.

Trade unions say they haven't ruled out more industrial action - lecturers from the city's university and colleges already held a day of action on Thursday.

Unions say the cuts target the poorest in society.
