A Cornwall Quarry that went up in flames will use thermal imaging cameras
A landfill site near Liskeard is considering using permanent thermal imaging cameras on site to safeguard themselves from any future fires.
The Viridor facility at Lean Quarry went up in flames in the early hours of Thursday morning last week causing disruption to local residents who had to stay inside for most of the day.
Fire investigators are still unsure as to the exact cause of the fire which sent piles of waste into a huge blaze - but staff at the Quarry are now considering using an onsite security guard overnight and cameras to pick up potential hot spots.
Terry Farrant manager at the Lean Quarry recycling and landfill site hopes to prevent this kind of incident happening again in the future.
