'Finishing touches' made to £19m transport scheme

Finishing touches will be added to Plymouth's £19m East End Transport scheme from today.

Work's starting on improving footpaths and road surfaces on Embankment road.

The city council say the scheme's been successful at reducing the traffic flow on Embankment Road by almost 50 percent.

It means another two months of disruption as the outbound bus lane will be closed between Cattedown roundabout and Grenville road - and local access routes will be restricted.

But councillor Kevin Wigens says they scheduled the work for now to keep the level of disruption to a minimum, as the Plympton bound traffic has already been diverted away from the area.

Residents and businesses can put their questions about the scheme to the team at the East End Community Resource centre on January 17th.
