Two taken to Derriford Hospital with 'life-threatening' injuries

    It's after a crash between two vehicles on the A30 in Cornwall

    At around 7.20pm on Wednesday 3 January, Police were notified of a two vehicle collision that had occurred on the A30 Westbound carriageway between Five Lanes and Bolventor junctions.

    The vehicles involved were a blue Subaru Legacy and a white Mercedes GLA 200; the collision occurred near to a location named Trewint Marsh.

    The Subaru was driven by a 35-year-old man originating from Slovakia, he was accompanied by two male passengers.

    As a result of the collision both passengers from the Subaru have suffered serious, life threatening injuries and both remain at Derriford Hospital. 

    The Mercedes was being driven by a 54-year-old man from Liskeard who has suffered minor injuries. He has since been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and remains in police custody.

    Officers from the Alliance Roads Policing Team along with a Forensic Collision Investigator and Scenes of Crime all attended the scene and are investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision.

    Officers are appealing for witnesses to the collision and would like to hear from anyone who has dashcam footage or who saw the Mercedes prior to the collision.
