A former RAF Aircraft Engineer has been inspired to pursue a radical change in career and is swapping jets for nail varnish.

Charlie Brown, who lives in Saltash, spent 22 years as an Aircraft Engineer with the RAF, working on Harrier Jump Jets based in both the Gulf and Aftghanistan.

A couple of years after leaving the Military, Charlie and his wife moved to Cornwall, knowing he wanted to continue working but unsure in what industry.

"I have always enjoyed making people feel nice; I live in Saltash and drove past Cornwall College Saltash one day and after a conversation with my wife I thought I'd go for a complete change and try a nail course", Charlie said.

He spoke to our News Editor Sam Cook:

Nail Lecturer at Cornwall College Saltash, Dawn Willock, said: "Charlie is a fantastic student, he is very good with customers and really keen to work and work with clients".

"He has a great attention to detail and likes to get everything just right. His interest in the industry and latest trends will really help him as he continues to move forward in his new career."

"Most of our students in this group are over 19, many go onto level 3, set up their own business or work in a salon. It is never too late for people looking to change a career, there are always options available.

There is a Courses and Careers Advice Event on Saturday 17th March 10am until Midday for students who may be interested in hair, beauty and nail courses to come along and meet the teams and explore the
